Wheat Profitability: Wheat Input Study – #letmakewheatgreatagain
This three-year multi-location ADF funded research project is looking at the economics of growing different wheat varieties and market classes, under different management practices. This will help to identify if management practices need to be tailored to market class differences to make wheat production more economical.
Spray Application Technology for Control of FHB in Wheat
Managing FHB in CWRS Wheat
This ADOPT funded demonstration illustrates how agronomic practices can work together with fungicide application to control FHB in CWRS Wheat.
4R Nitrogen Fertilizer Management in Wheat
This Fertilizer Canada and ADOPT demonstration illustrates the BMP for nitrogen fertilizer placements, rates, and products for high yielding CWRS Wheat production.
Hastening Oat Maturity without Pre-harvest Desiccant Application
This multi-location ADOPT demonstration is using multiple agronomic practicies, such as seeding date, rate, and fertilizer rates to speed up oat maturity. Thereby, forgoing desiccation and meeting the requirements of grain buyers and millers.
FHB Management in Malt Barley
This ADOPT demonstration will illustrate the BMP for control of FHB in Malt Barley, which include varietal selection, seeding rates, and fungicide application.
Effects of Plant Growth Regulators on Winter Cereals
This is the final study year for this research trial. Winter Wheat and Fall Rye have had a PGR applied at various rates and growth stages. So far, this trial has indicated that Winter Cereals do not respond the same to PGR as Spring Cereals.
Winter Wheat Seeding Dates
This trial lead by the University of Manitoba, is looking at expanding the optimal seeding date window for Winter Wheat production in various parts of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. In the previous two years, results indicate that the optimal seeding date is September 1st in NE Saskatchewan, but August 15th and September 15th can provide good yielding crops as well.
